Immediate friends’ is a term I coined to describe the people in your life who get you, respectfully still learning you, gives you room to be you, and fosters the equal yoke that never leaves you feeling an imbalance. Simply put, the intentions are pure and you will never hesitate to do the same.
This idea of ‘immediate friends’ came to me a few weeks ago, and I shared it with some of my #sisterballmoms during an evening meet up over charcuterie, sushi, pastries and bubbly while we discussed making time for the people we care about.
I want to be clear. Friends who don’t fall into this category aren’t bad people. In fact, it’s easy to question when some friends don’t show up as we expect. In these instances I believe it’s important to have clear communication in order to have deeper understanding about someone’s actions. You may learn that you were over analyzing or that life was just getting the best of them. As we know adulting can get the best of us.
“…fosters the equal yoke that never leaves you feeling an imbalance.”
I’ve noticed that the demands of life - work, day to day stuff like cooking, grocery, etc etc leaves us depleted with no time for the people we care about - adulting at its finest. Why do we let this consume us? As if we have forever? Was life made to just step and repeat? I highly doubt it.
As much as I’m a homebody, I actually feel good when I’m out. The act of socializing gives me a bit of adrenaline that I miss in the everyday.

Being around the people you care about, having conversations, laughing, eating good food is a type of therapy that serves as good memories that life offers. Let’s call it social therapy.
At the end of the day, maintaining meaningful relationships isn’t about grand gestures but about making the effort, showing up, and communicating openly. So, whether it’s once a month or quarterly, take time to connect with the people who lift you up.
And remember, relationships are a two-way street—reciprocate that love - give your people their flowers.
